Toxic chemicals in cleaning products enter the body by being absorbed through the skin or inhaled while you are using them. Also, when these chemicals go down the drain they end up in our rivers and lakes and eventually our water and food supply, which we should try to avoid.

The awesome news is that nontoxic cleaning and home products are easy to make and even easier to use. Essential oils like lemon, melaleuca and peppermint are all-natural disinfectants. Simply mixing them with baking soda, vinegar and a dash of water – boom! – you’ve created your very own line of cleaning products.

Deodorizing Spray

  • 1 cup water
  • 20 drops of peppermint or your favorite essential oil
  • 8 oz glass spray bottle
  • Shake and spray.

All-Purpose Ninja Spray

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 cup water
  • 10 drops melaleuca
  • 10 drops peppermint
  • Add to glass spray bottle. Shake and spray on surface. Wipe clean.

Caked on Pizza Paste

  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  • Combine baking soda and water. Stir. Add Vinegar and essential oil. Stir until soft paste. Perfect for cleaning the stove, tile etc.

Never Looked Better Glass/Mirror Spray

  • 1 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 white vinegar
  • 15 drops of lemon or wild orange essential oil
  • Add to a glass spray bottle. Shake well and wipe with dry microfiber cloth. Great for windows.

Wood and Leather Polish

  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 10 drops of lemon
  • Combine. Polish wood or leather with soft cloth. Great for cutting boards too!
