We accept who we are: health freaks who love all natural ingredients lathered into our hair and beard. The way we see it, there’s no need to use hair and beard care products chock-full of bad chemicals and ingredients when there are so many good-for-your-hair ingredients in nature. Whether locking in moisture, combating that beard-ruff or making your strands stronger and shinier, these three natural ingredients for hair care pack a serious punch:

Shea Butter

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the Shea Tree. Sometimes called a superfood for the skin, this moisture-rich, vitamin containing substance is commonly used for hair and skin care products. In addition to hair care, shea butter can be used as a great after shave and can make you smell like the gallant man you are.

Almond Oil

Almond oil is pretty much as it sounds – oil expressed from almonds. This stuff is high in antioxidants, rich in vitamin E (which is notoriously good for skin) and contains good kind of fats and protein. Basically, almond oil is an all around do-gooder for skin and hair care.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is actually a vegetable oil made by pressing the seeds of the castor oil plant. What can it do for you, you ask? It boasts vitamin E, minerals, proteins, and has antibacterial and antifungal properties, so yeah, it does a ton for you.

How do they help?

What is it you look for in a hair care product? To moisturize? To keep your beard looking smooth and shiny? These three can do all of the above and more. Here’s a list of great hair product benefits and how each of these three help:

  • Combat dandruff and beard-duff – All three fight against the flaky stuff. Shea butter doesn’t clog pores, almond oil reduces inflammation that causes flakes, and castor oil’s antifungal properties keep skin conditions that could cause flakes like piedra, ringworm and folliculitis at bay.
  • Stop split ends – Split ends can leave your hair and beard looking shaggy and unkempt, use products with any of these natural ingredients for smooths strands. Mixing almond, castor and oil is actually a great remedy for taming those fly-aways.
  • Sport sleek, shiny strands – These ingredients lock in moisture. Oils coat the strands from root to tip, keeping the everyday elements out and helping strands stay shiny and healthy. Shea butter also contains a low dose of SPF that protects hair from sun damage.
