We all go through stress every now and then, but sometimes it can feel like you never get a reprieve. From work to family stress, your life can get overwhelming if you’re not careful. As June is Men’s Health Month, we thought you’d enjoy some tips to minimize stress and maximize happiness!

Go green

Immerse yourself in nature! This may not be the most common self-care tip, but it’s a helpful one nonetheless. Nature can do wonders on a person’s psyche and provide many health benefits. Studies suggest that spending time outdoors can improve a person’s mental health, increase happiness, and reduce stress, so it may be beneficial to strap up your boots and get outdoors. Outdoor activities like hiking or walking are great because they allow you to surround yourself with nature while also getting in a physical workout. If hiking or walking isn’t your jam, you can always buy a few plants to put in your house. It’s not quite the same, but it will improve air quality and give your home a relaxing, cozy feel which is stress-relieving in itself.

Sweat it out

When you have things on your mind that are stressing you out, sometimes a good workout is all you need. While you can do light exercises, a high-intensity workout can really help steer your focus elsewhere. How can you focus on life stressors when you’re focused on pushing your body to its limits? It’ll be very hard too so picking up a sport like running, kickboxing or swimming during the summer can be beneficial to you. Aside from that, exercising also releases endorphins which are known to make people happy,  relieve stress, and decrease pain. Runners high is real, and it may be just the boost you need while taking care of your mental and physical health.

Up hair and skin routine

This is a sign to put down the 2-1 shampoo and conditioner and revamp your routine. For your skin, you need the basics— a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. Determine your skin type first, so you can comfortably figure out what products will work best for your skin. For your hair, you need a basic styling tool, shampoo, deep conditioner, and styling product as a start. Having the essential tools is a nice start for all hair types, from curly to straight. Additionally, now is the time to correct any problem areas. Tackling your insecurities and establishing healthy hair and skin habits will allow you to live your life more confidently and comfortably. So, if you have acne, a clean and simple skincare routine along with an acne treatment can help clear things up. Whereas if you have problems with your hair, such as hair thinning, a hair loss solution along with healthy hair habits, like getting regular haircuts and avoiding heat, is a good place to begin.

Do something for others

Sometimes the joy of doing something for others can brighten up your entire day and motivate you to do better. Seeing a smile on someone’s face or just knowing you helped someone out is one of the most fulfilling feelings you can have. Whatever you choose to do for someone doesn’t have to be this grandiose gesture if you don’t want it to be. Simply paying it forward by buying someone’s breakfast, holding the door open, listening to someone if they had a hard day can be enough. However, if you want to do things on a bigger scale, research local volunteer opportunities in your neighborhood. There’s usually always something you can do, and all you need to provide is your time and energy towards something good!
